I benefit from the value and strength of collective bargaining, and I am grateful for the sacrifices and tenacity of union members who have brought those benefits to all of us, over the decades and throughout our society.

One consequence of my union membership is sadly giving up the opportunity to join Clackamas Repertory Theatre for their Fall ’22 production of The Sound of Music, after all. They do terrific work, and I will watch for opportunities to work with them in the near future. I encourage you to see their shows, if you can!

After nearly a year and a half away, we’ve completed our run of Sarah Treem’s A Feminine Ending (see below) at Twilight Theatre Company, which had already received a terrific review (and now another)—thank goodness for live theatre!

The latest word from Clackamas Repertory Theatre is that they’ve wisely postponed their 2021–2022 season, as well. They’ll still be presenting the same roster of shows, including The Sound of Music—just a (second) year later—so I’ll be playing Max Detweiler in the Fall of 2022!

It’s mid-October, 2020, and I’ve just wrapped for The Bleeding Dark, written and directed by Jason Hawkins, with special effects by the legendary Joe Castro. The film now goes into post, so watch for it, over the coming months—you’ll see a first, for me!

I’m just back from the Bainbridge Island location for shooting my scenes in Hetero (see below). The producers have posted the first scene of Episode 1 of the web series.

I was pleased to head up to the Seattle area, in early August 2020, to play the primary antagonist in the upcoming Third Charm Films web series, Hetero. Watch for links, once the series is online!

I was thrilled to be cast as Max Detweiler in the Fall 2020 presentation of The Sound of Music at Clackamas Rep...and soon disappointed to hear that the company has cancelled its 2020–2021 season because of COVID. The silver lining is that they’re doing the same season, including The Sound of Music, a year later, so I’ve already booked my first gig for Fall of 2021!

Opening on Friday, March 13, 2020; temporarily suspended after our second performance; and shuttered on Monday, March 16, for having more than 25 seats; Sarah Treem’s A Feminine Ending at Twilight Theatre Company had already received a terrific review! We had hoped to be back after a week or two, but it’s now clear that it’ll be months before it’s safe to reopen. I’m glad we’ll get to finish the run of this sweet little story and that you’ll get another chance to see it.

I had a blast singing and dancing in the ensemble of A Christmas Story, playing for just two weekends in December 2019 in Salem’s beautifully restored Elsinore Theatre.

I hope you caught Lyon Theatre’s 2019 production of Tigers Be Still, a sweet and funny story of unlikely optimism in the face of setbacks.

It was a rewarding five-week run of the Stumptown Stages production of Urinetown in March of 2019. I loved working with Jennifer Anne Davies, Doug Zimmerman, and Ron Harman again, along with making a whole cast’s and crew’s worth of new friends! Here’s how we were reviewed in The Oregonian.

In August 2019, I played Captain Brackett in the Clackamas Repertory Theatre production of South Pacific, and the show was a great success, with all but one performance playing to a sold-out house. I’d had a blast playing FDR in Annie there, in 2018, so “Yes!” was the immediate answer when they asked whether I was interested in working with them again. I was delighted to learn later that Sarah DeGrave and Jon Quesenberry would be in this production, too!

After the 2018 holidays, I enjoyed performing in a concert presentation of the up-and-coming musical disconnected by Chris Rentzel (music and lyrics) and Gayle Towell (book), part of the 10th annual Fertile Ground Festival. The music is lovely, and all three performances were sold out!

A closing-weekend case of laryngitis notwithstanding, I had great fun with Twilight Theatre Company in its December 2018 production of The Game’s Afoot by Ken Ludwig. I played the actor, playwright, and entrepreneur William Gillette, a long-time friend of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, in this comedic whodunnit.

I had the good fortune to have assembled a terrific cast for my first project as a director, the Portland Civic Theatre Guild October 2018 concert reading of Foxfire (by Susan Cooper and Hume Cronyn) in October 2. It featured Virginia Kincaid, Benjamin Tissell, Del Lewis, Tiffany Groben, and Alex Trull. I hope you were able to join us!

I played author and playwright PG Wodehouse in a lightly staged reading of the latest play from local historian and playwright David Ritchie.

I was happy and grateful to have been invited to play FDR in Clackamas Repertory Theatre’s terrific production of Annie in August 2018, especially because it gave me the chance to work with Cassi Kohl, Jon Quesenberry, and Sarah DeGrave again!
